Use the time the visitor first landed with this fbclid. The fbclid is copied exactly, including its case.
Check an fbc or fbp
- Open your store, then DevTools → Application → Cookies, and copy _fbc or _fbp.
Format
fbc is fb.{subdomain index}.{creation time}.{fbclid}; fbp is fb.{subdomain index}.{creation time}.{random number}. Creation time is Unix time in milliseconds.
Never change the fbclid
Meta's click id is case-sensitive. Lowercasing or trimming it breaks attribution without any error.
Subdomain index
0 for 'com', 1 for 'example.com', 2 for 'www.example.com'. When you build fbc on the server without a cookie, Meta says to use 1.
Questions
Should I send fbc when there is no fbclid?+
No. Send fbc only when the visitor came from a Meta ad (a _fbc cookie or an fbclid in the landing URL). Never invent one.
